Ashlyn Bruns

Ashlyn Bruns is an Assistant Band Director at North Mesquite High School in Mesquite Texas.  She received her Bachelors of Music Education from the University of Oklahoma, grew up in the DFW area and attended Marcus High School.

During her studies at the University of Oklahoma, she performed in the OU Wind Symphony and Symphony Band while serving as a section leader in the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band. She studied clarinet with Dr. Suzanne Tirk and performed folk music at local contra dancing gigs. She completed her student teaching experience at Yukon High School, Yukon Middle School, and three district intermediate schools.   While at OU, she also served as a visual and musical staff member for the Marcus High School Marching Band in Flower Mound, Texas.

Ashlyn is a Crossmen Alumnus, having been a Drum Major and worked on the Admin Staff.  In addition to her general board of directors’ responsibilities, she will be part of the ethics team and focus on member experience. 

Ashlyn enjoys thrift shopping, playing the Nintendo Switch, and folk dancing!
