Tony Mencio
Visual Caption Manager
Tony was born and raised in Cedar Park, TX and graduated from Cedar Park High School in 2007. He then attended Texas Tech University and The University of North Texas and graduated in 2015 with a Degree in Music. His performance experience after his four years of high school marching, concert, and jazz band includes four years as a Soprano (2008-2011) with the Santa Clara Vanguard, and numerous collegiate ensembles such as the Texas Tech Goin’ Band from Raiderland, Texas Tech Symphonic Wind Ensemble, UNT Green Brigade, and the UNT Brass Band.
Tony currently is the Director of Band and Orchestra at Arlington Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie, TX while also serving as the Boys Varsity Soccer coach. Tony started his drum corps teaching career in 2012 as a member of the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps Brass Staff, he then joined The Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps Visual Staff from 2013-2015 and has spent the last seven years on the visual staff of The Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps, including the last four years as Visual Caption Head. He has also worked as a Designer, Marching Tech, Choreographer, and Clinician for multiple groups across Texas and the US. Tony was proud to be a member of the 40th anniversary summer with the Crossmen and is looking forward to helping the 50th anniversary summer be one of the greatest ones in Crossmen’s storied history!
When Tony is not teaching he enjoys cheering on the Packers, Rangers, Spurs, Stars, and both of his Universities in their sports, going to concerts or other live music events, hanging with friends and family, going biking/hiking, or playing around with his Terrier Pitbull puppy named Willow.
